Most Coast Mountain staff live right here in the Discovery Islands and have many years of experience kayaking in British Columbia waters. We can help you choose a kayaking route to suit your abilities, interests and vacation time frame. We can also provide you with hints about the Discovery Islands’ special places, sea kayaking navigation charts, location of drinking water and campsites, and help you understand tide and current tables. When you’re ready to go kayaking, use our dock as your departure point. There is parking nearby.

Single Kayak rental per day … $47
Single Kayak rental per 5 days … $210
Single Kayak rental each additional day … $40

Double Kayak rental per day … $75
Double Kayak rental per 5 days …$340
Double Kayak rental each additional day … $65

A kayak rental day is from 9 AM to 5 PM
Multi-day rental start at 9 AM and finishes 5 PM the last day.

Important Notes:

We want you to have a wonderful paddling experience and return safe & sound! Knowledge of kayaking rescue skills is essential for safe sea kayaking adventures in British Columbia. We may ask you to demonstrate proficiency. A liability waiver must be signed. Unaccompanied minors may not rent kayaks.

Reservations: Please book ahead for sea kayak rentals. When we receive your reservation, we will commit to having your requested equipment available on the dates reserved.

Credit card deposit is required for 25% of rental cost or minimum $50.
Balance of payment and security deposit will be taken at start of rental.

Cancellation: Please be sure of your dates and plans! When we reserve a boat for you, we cannot have it available for anyone else, so cancellations will be subject to the following charges. Prior to the rental:

29 - 7 days: 50% of rental cost

Coast Mountain Expeditions’ rental kayaks are available for departure from
Discovery Islands Lodge at the end of Surge Narrows Road, Quadra Island BC. Quadra Island is a short BC Ferry ride from Campbell River Vancouver Island British Columbia Canada.

Getting here is part of your vacation adventure! From Campbell River on Vancouver Island, take the 10-minute BC Ferry to Quadra Island. You’ll enjoy a beautiful drive through classic Vancouver Island wilderness and Quadra Island’s Main Lakes BC Provincial Park. This winding road will take you through Quadra Island’s temperate rainforest, ending near Discovery Islands Lodge, our waterfront B&B kayak hostel.
