Coast Mountains of British Columbia: a Sea Kayaking Adventure
This sea kayaking tour of remote British Columbia fjordlands is an expedition into the rugged wilderness of Canada ’s dramatic Coast Mountains. Join us with your spirit of adventure and be ready to explore the amazing and seldom-seen wilderness just north of Desolation Sound, BC.
After instruction and practice of sea kayaking techniques, we’ll enjoy a first night of west coast hospitality at our luxuriously-rustic homestead lodge on Read Island. Next morning we pack the kayaks and begin our kayaking journey of British Columbia wilderness -- with solitude and the magnificent panorama of coast mountains to stoke our spirits as we paddle along the verdant island shores. We’ll hike to a sparkling inland lake, pick wild berries and indulge in freshly gathered seafood at our remote rainforest beach camps. And onward we’ll venture among the island foothills of BC’s Coast Mountains…
Entering the inlet, the wilderness of mountains and forest assume dramatic perspective: towering peaks guide us into an awesome and mystical place where waterfalls cascade to the sea of glacial turquoise and the snow-capped mountains rise directly from the water's edge. Our last camp is on a tiny islet deep in this majestic realm.
Back at the mouth of the inlet we’ll be met by our boat and enjoy instant-replay (or snooze) as we return to Coast Mountain Lodge for a final evening in the comforts of civilization. This is truly a remarkable Canadian wilderness expedition!
